Friends of Nottingham High School
Infant and Junior School friends
Friends Association- The Infant and junior School
The Infant and Junior Section of ‘Friends’ is run in a similar way to the Senior School committee. They welcome new members and parents willing to become Class Representatives.
The IJS Friends organise a variety of IJS social events throughout the year including the Summer Fête. The Friends work with the school to raise valuable funds which are used to enhance the children’s experience with additional trips and resources.
They can be contacted through the Infant School secretary or the Junior School Head’s PA.
Senior School Friends
The Friends are a group made up of parents of Nottingham High School students and some teacher representatives who aim to provide other parents, particularly those new to the school, with opportunities to meet and get to know one another through social events.
The Friends provide support to the school at events such as the Carol Concert and Year 7 picnic as well as organising a main event each year to socialise and raise funds. Proceeds from our events go to the Friends Fund which is administered by the Headmaster. The Headmaster updates the Friends Committee in general terms on the grants made. In November 2015 the Friends committee presented a cheque to Mr Fear for £5,000 which will be used at his discretion, to allow bursary students to fully access all that NHS has to offer.
All parents of students at Nottingham High School are automatically members of the Friends and are warmly welcomed to join the committee and / or attend meetings which happen twice a term. If you are interested in helping us with our efforts to support the Fund or would like to find out about our next committee meeting, please email us: email@example.com
If you would like to help but are short of time, you can earn money for the Friends fund when you shop online with John Lewis, Amazon and M&S to name but a few. Simply register with www.easyfundraising.org.uk add us as your cause and every time you shop you will earn money for the Friends—and it won’t cost you a penny! You can even download the app to your smart phone or tablet to remind you when you are shopping.
The 500 Club is a private lottery and membership which is open to parents and grandparents of current and past pupils, staff and retired staff, Old Nottinghamians and Governors. Prizes will be drawn monthly; we also have super draws twice a year in June and December.
Approximately 50% of all monies collected will go into the prize fund and this is the Friends main source of income. The amount raised for the Friends Fund and the prize money depends on the number of members, so the more members the better for everyone! Please email Deborah Penney for more information.
