Nottingham High School establishes Nottingham High School Education Group (NHSEG)

Nottingham High School establishes Nottingham High School Education Group (NHSEG)

Nottingham High School has created a group of schools built around strong educational values, excellent pastoral care and long-term ambition, to be known as the Nottingham High School Education Group (NHSEG). Highfields School in Newark is the first school to be invited to join the group alongside Nottingham High School.

The move represents a strategic, educationally-led step designed to strengthen opportunities for pupils and staff and create a sustainable and ambitious future for both schools, whilst allowing each school to retain its own distinct identity, leadership and culture.

Nottingham High School will remain at the centre of the new group and continue as its flagship senior school. The long-term vision is to create a connected family of schools that can collaborate, share expertise and provide strong educational pathways for families who share similar values and aspirations.

The decision to establish NHSEG is designed to build from positions of strength and prepare for the future.

Commenting on the announcement, Mr Andy Palmer, Chair of Governors at Nottingham High School said:

“The establishment of NHSEG reflects our commitment to excellent education, strong pastoral care and long-term thinking. We believe schools should actively look at how they continue to thrive in a changing educational landscape and the establishment of NHSEG creates exciting opportunities for both pupils and staff while preserving the distinctive characters of each school.”

For pupils and families, there will be very little immediate change to day-to-day school life. Both schools will continue to operate under their existing leadership structures and maintain the ethos and community feel that families value.

Over time, the Nottingham High School Education Group is expected to create opportunities for greater collaboration between staff, the sharing of expertise and the development of wider educational opportunities across the group.

Further information about NHSEG will be shared with staff, parents and the wider school community over the coming months.
