Junior School Entry
Nottingham High Junior School educates children from Year 3 to Year 6 and welcomes new pupils at all year groups subject to availability.
The Junior School admissions process assesses your child’s ability in the core subjects of Mathematics and English, including reading, along with some measures of general ability. The work is set at National Curriculum ability levels appropriate for the age group and these assessments should be seen as a positive opportunity for your child to show their ability.
A member of staff will also spend some time in an informal interview with your child, where we will be looking for their ability to listen and speak freely with enthusiasm on a variety of topics of their choice. Spending the day in the Junior School environment will give staff the opportunity to assess your child socially as well as within the working environment.

“We would like to say a huge thank you for arranging a taster day for A. He was ecstatic when we collected him and the inevitable happened, he fell in love with the High School. A special thank you to Miss Griffiths for making A feel so welcome and the children, for helping him feel so settled”. – Year 3 Parent
“Thank you so much to Mrs Dunn and all of the staff for having J today. He had a great day. He loved the lessons, especially Science, which was very different to what he is used to and he was very excited to do a real experiment! He was also pleased to see a lot of children that he knows from his extra curricular activities. Overall he said he wished the day lasted longer!” – Year 5 Parent
