A Typical Sixth Form Day

A different routine.

Sixth Form life is much more flexible than in the Senior School, with free periods to enjoy and more of a focus on independent learning. Every day is different, but each one will look a little something like this.

7:30am

Registration starts at 8:40am each day, but the Sixth Form Centre is open from 7:30am for those who would rather arrive early.

Set over two mezzanine floors in the heart of the School, the light and modern Sixth Form Centre is the perfect place to start each day. There are comfy areas for both working and socialising, with hot and cold food available from the Brasserie.

Assembly or Tutor Period.

Tutor Sets meet on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays; each group is comprised of twenty four pupils of all ages. The Friday sessions are split, with the Tutor working closely with the Sixth Form Pupils and the Assistant Tutor with Years 7 – 11. On Mondays and Thursdays there are assemblies, some whole-school and other Sixth Form specific.

Morning lessons.

This is when the morning lessons start. Each period lasts for an hour and there is a short transfer time between each one, so students can get to where they need to be. Morning break is from 11:20am – 11:40am and allows for a quick recharge before the final lesson of the morning.

Lunch and activities.

Lunch break is nice and long here at the High School, allowing students to have a break for food and to get involved in clubs and activities if they choose. Some students like a full sit-down meal in the Dining Hall while others prefer to Grab-and-Go or get take out food from the Brasserie; this allows more time to participate in activities or relax in our outdoor Sixth Form area. Once refuelled, students can get involved in one of our wide array of co-curricular opportunities taking place here every day. They can also hop on a tram and travel the 2 minutes into the city centre if they prefer.

School finishes.

If they’re not taking part in any after-school activities, students can grab one of our many school buses or make their own way home. If they’re waiting to be picked up or want to get some extra work done, they’re welcome to stay in our Sixth Form Centre or Library.
