Nottingham High School are delighted to announce they have been named The Sunday Times East Midlands Senior School of the Decade. In a change to the annual award, put on hold due to the changes Covid-19 had brought to the education system, The Sunday Times reviewed all the results and data from the past 10 years to introduce the School of the Decade award for 2021.

The 28th edition of Parent Power, The Sunday Times School Guide 2021 identifies the highest-achieving schools in the UK, ranked by their examination results. After a summer of disruption in schools, they have chosen 26 Schools of the Decade from all corners of the country in recognition of their sustained excellence.

The award was made in recognition of the outstanding academic success fostered at Nottingham High School, who have year on year achieved the best exam results in the region.

Headmaster Kevin Fear said “We are thrilled to be named as the East Midlands Independent School of the Decade. The last 10 years has been such an exciting time as we have become fully co-educational at the same time as enhancing our academic standards ensuring that we have consistently been the highest achieving school in the region. This award is fantastic recognition for all of our staff, both teaching and support, who have shared the goal of the School being the best in the region and who have worked so hard to provide so many brilliant opportunities for our pupils. Our pupils too over this time have played their part in this success and so enjoy each and every day at the School. Strong academic results and outstanding care for each individual pupil through our tutor system lies at the heart of our success. Despite the challenges of the Covid period the School is thriving.”

During the past decade, the School has become fully co-educational, taking their first cohort of girls in 2015. Staff and students have worked determinedly over recent years to raise the academic success of the School and our students go on to achieve great things at prestigious universities and then move on to successful and fulfilling careers in a number of professions.
