I am delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Polly Bennett as our new Head of Nottingham High Infant and Junior School from January 2025. Currently Head of Preparatory Schools at Highclare School in Birmingham since 2015, and previously Head of the Junior School at Derby Grammar School, Polly brings with her a wealth of experience. She is currently responsible for the leadership and management of two parallel Preparatory Schools with children aged 2 to 11 and is involved with strategic development at both Prep and whole school level.

Polly graduated from Liverpool University with a degree in Ancient History and Archaeology, followed by a PGCE from Liverpool Hope University. She is currently a member of The Society of Heads, Heads of Junior Schools Committee, and works closely with other Prep and Junior School Heads to raise the profile of primary education within the independent sector and beyond. She is also an Inspector with the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).

Polly is married to Dan, a local business man, loves reading, cooking and spending lots of time in North Norfolk. She likes eating in Michelin starred restaurants and travelling, especially around North America and Canada. Her family are very important to her and her dream is to eventually get her own dog (she currently just has a school dog who she steals a lot to go to Norfolk with!). Her guilty pleasure is an episode or two of Midsomer Murders!

Polly adds “I am thrilled to be joining IJS and Nottingham High School as a whole. It is a huge honour to be part of such an esteemed establishment and to be leading such a dynamic and vibrant Infant and Junior School on the next part of its journey. I thoroughly look forward to meeting and getting to know you all in the coming months.”
