The High School is a school of national reputation, Headmaster Kevin Fear has been at the helm since 2007. He says “By championing the individual and encouraging intellectual curiosity, we ensure that all pupils not only achieve outstanding examination results but leave the School as well-rounded, confident young people, ready to play their part in tomorrow’s society. I very much hope that I will have the pleasure of welcoming you and your family to the School, as we believe that a visit is the best way to discover what it is really like”

We were delighted to be named East Midlands Independent School of the Year 2023, East Midlands Independent Secondary School of the Decade 2021 and to be ranked first for academic results in the East Midlands 2022, all awarded by The Sunday Times Independent Schools Guide. The Independent School of the Year awards named us the Coeducational School of the year in 2022, and awarded us for healthy eating in 2020. Every bit as important to us though is the feedback from our parents. We are proud that pastoral care is consistently the highest-rated feature in our regular parental surveys.

Along with achieving outstanding academic results, the school places a strong emphasis on well-being and helping each student develop a lifelong love of learning. Nottingham High School pride themselves on having happy and confident students with a strong sense of social responsibility. There is a huge focus on extra-curricular activities that students can take part in, including Music, Journalism, Sports, Science, Chess and Food club.

The School has an extensive pupil catchment and is the first choice for much of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Leicestershire. Our students come from a wide range of backgrounds and we are committed to maintaining a representative entry, supporting this with generous bursary and scholarship funds for Year 7. Together, these mean that about a tenth of Senior School pupils receive some form of financial assistance.
